My Hunting Origin Story

I picked up a shotgun at 15, harvested my first doe, and was instantly hooked. Soon after, I went to college and joined the Air Force Reserves—not realizing how much of a hit my hunting time would take.

Between drill weekends and classes, I spent seven years with barely a day or two in the woods. Frustration nearly drove me to hang it up, but after graduating college, my desire to hunt reignited.

I dove into every book and article I could find before discovering the National Deer Association’s Deer Steward 1 school. That experience taught me that while hunting strategy matters, a deep understanding of deer biology is just as crucial.

Our Mission: Habitat First

Take care of the land and the land will take care of you. At Apex Hunting Solutions, wildlife habitat always comes first. We blend science-backed conservation with real-world experience to create food plots and land plans that deliver year-round forage, cover, and buck-attracting edge habitat.

  • Hands-On Partnership: We guide you from clearing and spraying through soil prep, seeding, and maintenance—no plan is finalized until you see wildlife respond.
  • Sustainable Practices: Our methods balance forage production with native timber health, soil structure, and long-term ecosystem stability.
  • Customized Solutions: Every recommendation is tailored to your soil, terrain, and hunting goals—never cookie-cutter.
  • Ongoing Support: Beyond the plan, you get quarterly check-ins, access to our workshops, and an exclusive community of fellow landowners and hunters.

Hands-On Field Experience

Before I began consulting professionally, I put every strategy to the test on my own land and for close friends—so you get methods proven in the real world, not just on paper.

  • 0.5-Acre Backwoods Gas-Line Plot: Cleared dense brush by hand, applied a three-pass herbicide treatment, lime-amended the soil, and broadcast a clover-chicory mix. Today it draws 6–8 deer daily.
  • Timber Stand Improvement: Helped friends by meeting with foresters to convey their needs. This lead to a heavier thinning that helped vastly improve natural browse and cover on the property while putting money in their pockets.
  • Late-Season Brassica-Grain Blends: Developed quick-establish turnip-rye mixtures for small-acreage plots, delivering reliable frost-sweetened forage and consistent hunting success.

These hands-on projects inform every recommendation I make—because if it thrives in the field, it’ll thrive on your property, too.
